LANGLEY, British Columbia – The Guelph Gryphons men's rugby team matched their best-ever finish at a national championship, defeating the Memorial Sea-Hawks 38-12 in the bronze medal match of the 2023
Canadian University Men's Rugby Championships in Langley, B.C.
The Gryphons, who have appeared at the national championship event every year since its inception in 2017, have now twice claimed bronze, with the Gryphons taking home hardware in each of the past two seasons.

After falling to the UBC Thunderbirds in the semifinal stage on Friday night, the Gryphons got off to a strong start on Sunday night in the bronze medal match against the Atlantic champion Memorial Sea-Hawks out of St. John's, Newfoundland.
The Ince brothers got the Gryphons off to a good start, with
Jacob Ince kicking a loose ball into the path of his older brother, Josh Ince, who was able to get a touch on it for the game's opening try, giving the Gryphons an early 7-0 lead. In the 19th minute, the Gryphons would double their lead, thanks to a second try of the day from Josh Ince, with the fifth-year accounting major giving the Gryphons a 14-0 lead.
Tomas Dallan, a management economics and finance major at the University of Guelph in his third-year or studies and second-year of eligibility, would cap off an impressive opening half for the Gryphons with the Oakville native scoring the team's third try of the day, giving Guelph a commanding 19-0 lead at halftime. The Gryphons would add 2nd half tries from
Jacob Ince,
Kobe Faust and
Jack Morris to extend Guelph's, in a runaway 38-12 victory.
