WRGBY RECAP: Gryphons Book Spot in OUA Final with 58-0 Win Over Brock

GUELPH, Ont. - The Guelph Gryphons women's rugby team has taken one step closer to defending their OUA title. On a sunny, Saturday afternoon at the University of Guelph, the Gryphons rolled to a 58-0 victory over the Brock Badgers in OUA semifinal action. The Gryphons led 38-0 at halftime, and added 20 more points in the second half, to advance to the 2022 conference championship game. Kendra Cousineau (3), Lara Jorgensen (2), Maddie Hobson (2), Emily Clark, Kyla Warren and Abby Auger all recorded tries for the Gryphons, ranked No. 5 in the country in the latest U SPORTS Top 10 polls. The Gryphons will now face the No. 1-ranked Queen's Gaels in the OUA gold medal game next Saturday (Oct. 29) in Kingston. It will be a re-match of the 2021 OUA title game, which the Gryphons won 33-23 to claim the OUA banner, with Queen's later going on to claim the 2021 U SPORTS title. With Saturday's win over Brock, the Gryphons also book a spot at this year's national championships, with the 2022 U SPORTS Women's Rugby Championships set to take place November 2-6 in Victoria, B.C.
