GUELPH, Ont. – Saturday night at the Guelph Gryphons Athletics Centre, the Gryphons men's volleyball team suffered a 3-sets-to-1 loss to the McMaster Marauders. Set scores were 25-18, 25-20, 25-27 & 27-25. With the result, the Gryphons fall to 2-2 on the season while McMaster improves to 2-1.
The Gryphons were led by
Josh Green (12 kills, 15.5 points),
Zach Newman (11 kills, 7 digs) and
Matthew Baxter (9 kills, 9 digs), while the Marauders were led by Brandon Koppers who racked up 19 kills to go along with 14 digs.
Prior to the game, the Gryphons honoured alumnus, supporter, volunteer and longtime assistant coach
Larry Pearson with a special on-court presentation.
The Gryphons will now play each of their next four games on the road, beginning with a Friday night (Nov. 10) match in Kingston against the Queen's Gaels.
