The lone goal of the match came in the 40

After an aggressive challenge from the McMaster's goalkeeper on a through ball into the box, the ball would would find its way to the foot of Victoria Hinchliffe who would calmly finish off her second goal of the season to put the Gryphons ahead 1-0. Hinchliffe also scored last Saturday (Aug. 27) in a 2-2 draw at Laurier.
Gryphons head coach
Randy Ragan had high praise for his rookie striker after the match, "Victoria was great tonight. She has some great speed and is a solid finisher, but it is her drive and determination that really allows her to be a threat to score each night. Really happy for her and hopefully she's able to build off this great start to the season going forward."
From a team perspective, Ragan pointed to the Gryphons mindset heading into the match, "We wanted to make sure we were first to the ball tonight. It's a simple approach, but when we're able to do that, it gives us the edge in possession. It allowed us to play in their end more than ours, and that was a key."
Gryphons third year keeper
Libby Brenneman (Baden, ON) made four saves for her first clean sheet of the season.
The Gryphons now prepare for a Sunday afternoon match at Waterloo. Kickoff is set for 1pm at Warriors Field.
