GUELPH, ON - Saturday afternoon at the Gryphon Centre, the Gryphons women's hockey team lost 2-1 to the Concordia Stingers in what was the opening game of Guelph's preseason schedule.
The lone Gryphon goal on the day was scored by rookie winger
Kristen Jay (Thornhill, ON), assisted by fellow rookie

Valerie Lamenta and
Aurore Beaulieu split time in net. Concordia's winning goal was scored on a Stingers power play.
The Gryphons will now head south of the border for a trio of games against NCAA opponents beginning with a Friday night matchup against Rochester Institute of Technology. Following that, the Gryphons will face Penn State and Quinnipiac before returning home.
In total, the Gryphons will play six preseason games before beginning the OUA regular season on Friday, Oct. 7th versus Western in London.
