SUDBURY, ON - Saturday afternoon in Sudbury the Gryphons women's hockey team won 3-1 over the Laurentian Voyageurs. With the result, the Gryphons improve to 9-2-1 on the season while Laurentian falls to 5-4-0.
One day after suffering a hard-fought 1-0 loss in North Bay against the Nipissing Lakers, the Gryphons were able to start strong against Laurentian with
Kelly Gribbons opening the scoring 3:36 into the 1st period with her 6th goal of the season. After Laurentian tied the game at 1-1 early in the 2nd period, the Gryphons would re-take the lead on
Claire Merrick's 2nd goal of the season. Merrick, who assisted on Guelph's first goal of the game, was able to cut across the net and beat Laurentian goalie Laura Deller blocker side to put the Gryphons up 2-1. With 2:32 remaining in the 3rd,
Kaitlin Lowy would cap the scoring with her team-leading 8th of the season.

Valerie Lamenta made a total of 29 saves for the win, including several key stops in the 3rd period.
The Gryphons now return home to face the Laurier Golden Hawks on Wednesday, November 23rd.
