Game 2 Recap:

On Sunday, the Gryphons and Thunderbirds shifted fields and squared off at the Gryphon Soccer Complex. Despite the different venue, the result was similar as this time the Gryphons rolled to a 6-0 win.

Third year midfielder Jacqueline Goulart (Mississauga, ON) had the only goal of the first half as her 16th minute strike had the Gryphons clinging to a slim 1-0 lead after 45 minutes of play. In the second half however, the Gryphons would explode for five goals. Goulart's second of the match extended the Guelph lead to 2-0 in the 55th minute. By the 63rd minute, the Gryphons lead had grown to 3-0 on Jacquie Preza's second goal of the weekend. Victoria Hinchliffe would do the rest from there, scoring a natural hat trick with goals in the 64th, 73rd and 90th minutes, respectively.

Hinchliffe now has a team-high seven goals on the season.

The Gryphons will now prepare to host the Laurier Golden Hawks (4-2-5) on Wednesday, Oct. 5th. Kickoff is set for 2:45pm at the Gryphon Soccer Complex. Currently, the Gryphons sit 4th in the OUA West standings, just one point ahead of Laurier.
