WINDSOR, ON – Saturday night in Windsor the Gryphons men's volleyball team lost in straight sets to the Windsor Lancers. Set scores were 16-25, 24-26 & 21-25. Both teams now share identical 4-10 records on the season.
When these two teams met earlier in the season, back on Halloween night, it was the Gryphons who were able to record a straight sets victory. This time around however, Guelph got off to a slow start, dropping the opening set 16-25. In the second set, the Gryphons put themselves in good position to get back into the match and earned a 20-17 lead. Unfortunately the Gryphons were unable to close out the set as Windsor fought back to take the second set 24-26. Trailing 11-18 in the third set, the Gryphons fought back to get it to 17-19, but the Lancers would hold on to take it 21-25 and take the match 3-0.
Josh Green led the Gryphons with 8.5 points followed by
Luke Woud with 6.5 points.
The Gryphons will next be in action on Friday, February 5 when they host the No. 8-ranked Queen's Gaels (11-3). That match gets underway at 8pm and can be seen live on OUA.tv.
