Hamilton, ON - Sunday afternoon in Hamilton the Gryphons Women's Soccer team lost 2-1 to the McMaster Marauders. With the loss, the Gryphons finish the season with a 6-10-0 record and will enter the postseason as the No. 6 seed in the OUA West division playoffs. McMaster finishes the season with a 7-6-3 record, good for fourth in the OUA West division standings.

Sunday afternoon at Ron Joyce Stadium, the Marauders were able to open the scoring in the 10th minute when a long range shot from McMaster's Stephanie Roberts gave the home team a 1-0 lead. The game would stay that way until the 75th minute when Gryphons team captain and fifth year senior Courtney Whiteside would score the equalizer with a brilliant chip over the McMaster goalkeeper. The assist on the goal came from a long kick from Gryphon keeper Holly Miller. Shortly after drawing level, the Marauders would re-take the lead when Stephanie Roberts was able to get on the end of a cross inside the 18-yard box to score her second of the match, giving the Marauders a 2-1 victory.

Despite the loss, the Gryphons are still postseason bound but will face a tough test in their opening round matchup. On Wednesday, October 28 the Gryphons will head to London to face the No. 3-seed Western Mustangs (11-2-3). This will mark the second straight season the Gryphons have traveled to London for their opening round playoff matchup. Last season, the two teams were scoreless after 90 minutes of play before Western broke things open with three goals in extra time.
