London, Ont. – The Gryphon women's soccer team saw their season come to an end on Sunday, losing 3-0 to Western in London. It was a hard-fought, evenly matched game as the Gryphons and Mustangs were scoreless after 90 minutes of play and required extra time. Coming off of a playoff win over Windsor in which the Gryphons came out on top in penalties, it was looking like another shootout might be in the making. However, the Mustangs were able to open the scoring in the 99
th minute. Trailing by a goal, the Gryphons were forced to throw everything they had forward to try to find an equalizer. As a result, they were vulnerable at the back as the Mustangs were able to two more goals at the end of extra time. After an up and down regular season, the Gryphons should be proud of their performance in the postseason. After a dramatic win over Windsor, the Gryphons lose to Western in extra time and fall just short of reaching the OUA's Final Four of women's soccer.
