Toronto, Ont. - The Gryphon women's hockey team lost in a shootout to the University of Toronto on Saturday. The Gryphons showed great determination throughout the game, twice coming back to tie things up. Trailing 2-1 late in the third period, the Gryphons would pull the goalie for an extra attacker. With 26 seconds remaining, fifth year forward Kaitlyn Mora (Guelph, Ont.) would score to force overtime. The extra frame would solve nothing, and the Gryphons and Varsity Blues would settle things in a shootout. After the first six shooters failed to score, U of T would seal the win with a goal from Jacqueline Scheffel. The Gryphons are now 2-0-1 on the season while U of T improve to 2-0-0.
"Shoot outs are always a hard way to lose hockey games. Our rookie goalie stepped up last minute and played great despite the loss. Line Nooren, Mora, and Gribbons dominated with their speed and produced both the nights goals." - Rachel Flanagan (Head Coach)
