Six different Gryphons contributed to the offensive outburst that took place at the Gryphon Centre this afternoon, while Stephanie Nehring (Oshawa, ON) made 21 saves in net to earn the win. Guelph's power play unit was solid, shutting down the Gaels' four power play attempts, and converting twice on the one-man advantage.

The Gaels struggled defensively this afternoon and the Gryphons took full advantage. Jenna Lanzarotta (Mississuaga, ON) nabbed the first goal of the game when she scored on her own rebound, assisted by Tamara Bell (Guelph, ON) and Kaitlyn Mora (Guelph, ON) at 6:20.

The second period was a high scoring, fast-paced affair that saw Guelph go on a four-goal tirade. Amanda Parkins (Kitchener, ON) and Jessica Pinkerton (Kitchener, ON) proved once again that they're a dangerous pair at 2:20, and combined on the power play to advance the score to 2-0. Mora controlled a long pass from Gina Murray (Lucknow, ON) and scored on a breakaway at 10:47 to take the score to 3-0 and then minutes later, Emily Corbett (Toronto) assisted by Christine Grant (Mississauga, Ont.) and Pinkerton, notched a top shelf goal from the hash marks to make the score 4-0 at 12:10. The Gryphon offence continued their attack with Averi Nooren (Elmira, Ont.) scoring on a rebound, with help from Bell at 14:01.

The Gaels responded with a couple of quick goals at 14:21 and 18:14 from Morgan McHaffe (Guelph, ON), assisted by Brittany McHaffe (Guelph, ON) and Taryn Pilon (Peterborough, ON) and Shawna Griffin (Redwood Meadows, Alta), assisted by Chantal Morais (Guelph, ON) and Kristin Smith (Toronto).

The Gaels seemed to be building momentum in the third period after a tense few minutes in front of Guelph's net, but the Gryphons quickly thwarted their attack and continued to dominate the game. Guelph scored back-to-back goals midway through the third to secure a 7-2 win over the visiting Gaels. Parkins recorded her second of the game, combining with Pinkerton and Leigh Shilton (Belleville, ON) at 11:22 and then seconds later Pinkerton fed the puck to Grant who buried in the back of the net to round out the scoring.

Karissa Savage (Calgary, Alta.) and Mel Dodd-Moher (Stittsville, ON) both recorded eight saves for the Gaels

The Gryphons will attempt to keep their win-streak going when they host the top seeded Golden Hawks next Sunday (Feb 3) at the Gryphon Centre. The puck drops at 2:00 p.m.
