The Gryphons have clinched second place in the OUA, finishing the regular season with a record of 18-6-2 and 38 points, despite a 2-1 loss to the Warriors this afternoon (Feb. 12) in Waterloo.

The Gryphons will now host the seventh-seeded Windsor Lancers in a best-of-three quarterfinal series. Guelph will have the home-ice advantage in the series. Â Game one will take place in Guelph this Thursday, February 16 at 7:30pm. Â The second game will take place in Windsor on Saturday, February 18 at 4:10 pm. Â If game three is needed the two teams will return to Guelph on Sunday, February 19 for a 2:00 pm puck drop.Â

Waterloo opened the scoring with only seven seconds remaining in the first period as Kelly Toms (Ennismore) chipped in a forehand past the glove of Guelph goalie Brooke Siddall (Windsor, Ont.).Â

Both teams tightened up their game before Guelph found the equalizer with only 37 seconds left in the game as Kaitlyn Mora (Guelph, Ont.) banged home a deflected point shot by Jacky Sollis (West Vancouver, B.C.) past Rebecca Bouwhuis (Orillia).

Emma McMillan (Hastings, ON) scored the game winner for the Warriors at 4:31 in overtime. Â

Siddall was busy between the pipes, allowing just two goals on 33 shots. Waterloo rookie, Bowhuis earned the win with a 30 save performance.
