The Guelph Gryphon women's hockey team dropped a 3-1 decision to the Waterloo Warriors Saturday afternoon at the Gryphon Centre. Guelph falls to 6-2-1, while the Warriors move to 4-6-0.
Guelph opened the scoring 18:02 into the first period when senior
Jacalyn Sollis (West Vancouver, BC) potted her second of the season on assists from rookies
Adrianna Prosdocimo (Brampton, Ont.) and
Talia Paone (Ancaster, Ont.).
In the second period, the Warriors tied up the game with a marker from Sarah Endicott 4:24 minutes into the period. The Warriors earned their second of the period when Liana Tennant put one home at 15:31, to close out the period with a 2-1 Warrior lead.
With just eight minutes left in the contest the Warriors doubled their lead with a powerplay goal from Lindsey Ceaser. It was her third of the season. Caitlin Brydges and Endicott provided the assists. Warriors Goalie, Rebecca Bouwhuis played outstanding in the final frame as the Gryphons turned on the heat and outshot Waterloo 11-4 but couldn't get on the board.
Bouwhuis finished with 24 saves while Gryphon netminder
Brooke Siddall (Windsor) made 17 saves.
The Gryphons are back in action tomorrow against the unbeaten Laurier Golden Hawks (6-0-0). Game time is 2:00 p.m. at the Gryphon Centre.
