Men's Hockey Ceremonial Puck Drop
Bombardier Evan Shields, an active local reservist dropped the puck in honour of all Canadian veterans, to start off the game.

Aaron Snow (Windsor, ON) opened the scoring at 7:56 with help from Andrew Eastman (Aurora, ON) to put the Mustangs on the scoreboard.

Lillie, with help from Andrew Merret (Vernon, BC) and Kris Belan (Florence, ON) tipped one past Mustang netminder, to tie the game at 14:50 into the first period. Mark Pawlowski (Brampton, ON) scored minutes later to take the 2-1 lead, closing out the first period.

The second period started out with even play by both teams. At 9:11, the Western attackers carried the puck up the right side of the rink, where Zach Harnden (Thunder Bay, ON) was waiting for the centering pass and scored to tie up the game once again. The Mustangs got another short handed, but the Gryphons were quick to reply with another goal from Lillie assisted by Ben Clarke (Halifax, NS) and Ken Peroff (Astorville, ON).

Western went up 4-3 early in the third, but the Gryphons asserted themselves and continued to apply pressure on the Western defensive line. With less than two minutes left in the final period, Lyall roofed a centering pass from Andrew Merrett (Vernon, BC) to force the game into overtime.

After a valiant effort, the Gryphons were unable to hold on as Adam Nemeth (Amherstburg, ON) secured the game winning goal for the Mustangs.

The Gryphons will face off against the Warriors Saturday (Nov. 5) at the Gryphons Centre. The puck drops at 7:30 p.m.
