Gryphons tie Waterloo and fall to Laurier this weekend


After tying the Waterloo Warriors 1-1 on Saturday at home the Gryphons fell 2-0 to the Laurier Golden Hawks on Sunday afternoon in Waterloo. 
 

On Saturday Guelph's Jenny Dunn (Vancouver) scored the lone goal in the first half, 23 minutes into the game.  Waterloo's Tara Butterworth scored the equalizer in the second half with 62 minutes on the clock.  Dunn, a first year striker has found her scoring touch, tallying a goal in each of Guelph's three regular season games thus far. 

 

On Sunday, the Gryphons fell to Laurier 2-0. After a scoreless draw thru the first half, the Golden Hawks scored two second half goals to get the win.  First-year goalkeeper Joelle Chartrain (Calgary) was outstanding for the Gryphons in net, making 12 saves including 10 in the first half which kept the Gryphons in the game. The Hawks outshot the Gryphons a convincing 20-3 in the contest.   

 
 

Up next the Gryphons host the McMaster Marauders on Sunday (Sept. 19) in Alumni Stadium at 1:00 p.m.
