The No. 8 ranked Gryphon women's hockey team shutout the Brock Badgers 3-0 tonight (Oct. 14) in St. Catharine's, Ont. at the Seymour-Hannah Centre.

The Gryphons earned three power play goals and were perfect on the penalty kill tonight as they advance to an undefeated 3-0 record on the season. Guelph finished 3-for-12 on the power play, meanwhile rookie netminder Brook Siddall (Windsor, Ont.) earned her first university career shutout.  

After a scoreless 38 minutes, Guelph would open the scoring on the power play with less than two minutes left in the second period as Jenna Lanzarotta (Mississauga) tipped in a shot from Kimberley Wong (Mississauga) past Brock goaltender Beth Clause (Hamilton) for her third goal of the season.

In the opening five minutes of the third period, the Gryphons would take a commanding 3-0 lead after answering with back-to-back power play goals just 33 seconds apart. Guelph's Jessica Zerafa (Mississauga) and Emily Corbett (Toronto) setup Tamara Bell (Guelph, Ont.) who found the back of the net for her second of the season at 16:04. Just over half a minute later, with their eighth power play opportunity of the game, Lanzarotta and Jacky Sollis (West Vancouver) setup Dayna Kanis (Georgetown, Ont.) for her second of the season.

In goal, Guelph rookie Brooke Siddall turned aside all 25 Brock shots for the shutout. Clause registered 36 saves in the loss.
