At this time of the year, every goal is huge. Kaitlin Lowy's latest goal just so happens to be the biggest goal of the season to this point. On Friday night in Waterloo, second year winger Kaitlin Lowy scored the overtime winner against the Laurier Golden Hawks to send the Gryphons women's hockey team not only to the OUA Final, but also guaranteeing themselves a spot at the 2016 CIS Championships in Calgary. Lowy, a Geography major and native of Toronto, showed great composure before firing a perfectly placed shot past Laurier goalie Amanda Smith to give the Gryphons a 2-1 victory in their OUA Semifinal series with the Hawks. It marked the second goal of the playoffs for Lowy who also found the back of the net in Game 2 of the OUA Quarterfinals versus Laurentian. Kaitlin and her teammates are now busy preparing for the OUA Championship game (the McCaw Cup) on Saturday, March 12 when they will play host to the defending national champion Western Mustangs. Puck drop is set for 2pm at the Gryphon Centre as the Gryphs look to bring home the school's first OUA title in women's hockey since 1998.
