This past weekend, Gryphons second year goalie Andrew D'Agostini was simply on fire as he recorded back-to-back shutouts in wins over both Carleton and RMC. On Friday night in Ottawa, the Scarborough native made 33 saves to lead the Gryphons to a 2-0 victory over the No. 9-ranked Carleton Ravens. 14 of those 33 saves were made in the opening period in which the Ravens were unable to solve D'Agostini despite several good power play opportunities, including an extended 5-on-3 advantage. Late in regulation, the Ravens pulled their goalie for a 6-on-5 advantage and once again generated several terrific scoring opportunities, only to see D'Agostini shut the door once more.

D'Agostini had little time to rest as he was called upon the very next night (Saturday, November 28), this time to face the RMC Paladins at their home rink in Kingston. D'Agostini would go on to post his second shutout in as many nights, and his third of the season, after turning away all 43 shots sent his way in a 3-0 Gryphons win. Throughout that game, RMC crashed the net hard and peppered D'Agostini for 60 minutes with 15 shots on net in the opening period followed by 14 in each of the final two periods. Despite their best efforts, the Paladins were unable to find a way past the former OHL standout (Peterborough Petes) as the Gryphons remained red hot and earned their eighth win in their last 10 games. D'Agostini and the Gryphons now have one game remaining on their schedule prior to the exam/Christmas break as they will be in action again on Thursday, Dec. 3 when they travel to Waterloo to face the Laurier Golden Hawks. Puck drop on that game is scheduled for 11am as part of Laurier's "School Day" promotion. The game can also be seen live online at OUA.tv.
