Linebacker John Rush is this week’s Gryphon Athlete of the Week after an impressive performance in the Gryphons 33-23 win over McMaster at Homecoming. Rush, a fifth year Marketing Management major, finished the game with 11.5 tackles (6 solo, 11 assisted) while also forcing a fumble and recording a pass break up. The Niagara Falls native has served as the anchor in the middle of the Gryphons front seven for several years, and at Homecoming, he seemed to find the ball carrier at will thanks to some incredible play recognition skills that allowed him to be the first to sniff out screens and quickly recognize run plays.
