After an unbelievable performance during the 2014 season, which culminated with him being named a Second Team All-Canadian Returner, Ryan Nieuwesteeg has picked up in 2015 right where he left off last year. On Sunday night (Aug. 30) against the Waterloo Warriors, Nieuwesteeg delivered yet another dazzling performance in the return game, amassing 164 yards on 10 punt returns.Â

The biggest highlight came on a 79-yard punt return for a touchdown in the second quarter. On that play, the Niagara Falls native fielded the ball near the sideline and broke one tackle before blazing straight up the sideline all the way to the end zone. Earlier in the game, Nieuwesteeg also took one back all the way only to have it called back because of a flag. Last season, the Sociology major set a school record with 947 yards on punt returns.
