Ross Proudfoot won two gold medals as well as a silver medal this past weekend (Feb. 27-28) at the OUA Track & Field Championships, hosted by York University. For Proudfoot, the three medals are the latest accomplishments in what is an already storied running Varsity career. In the 1500m, he led the Gryphons to a podium sweep of the event which secured the team title for the Gryphs. The reigning Male Athlete of the Year at the University of Guelph has now earned a gold medal in the 1500m at the OUA Championships in three different years (2012, 2014 & 2015). The Sudbury native would also earn a gold medal in the 3000m, with teammate Aaron Hendrikx once again finishing behind him in 2nd. Proudfoot's third medal of the OUA Championships, a silver, came in the men's 4x800m relay in which the Gryphons finished 2nd. Proudfoot, a First Team All-Canadian a year ago, will now prepare for the CIS Championships (March 12-14) which are being hosted by the University of Windsor. Ross has been named Gryphon Athlete of the Week three times in 2014-2015 after twice receiving recognition during a OUA and CIS championship cross country season.
