Steph Nehring was once again rock solid in between the pipes for the Gryphons women's hockey team this past week, leading them to a pair of overtime wins over Ryerson in their OUA quarter-final sweep of the Rams. After allowing a first period goal in Game 1 of the series on Thursday (Feb. 19), Nehring would blank the Rams over the next 53 and a half minutes of play before Guelph would score the winner in OT. In Game 2, one goal was once again all that Ryerson could muster against Nehring, as the fourth year Oshawa native made 34 saves in a game that this time needed double overtime. On the year, Nehring boasts a record of 16-3-0, has recorded five shutouts, a save percentage of .949 and leads the OUA with a sparkling goals against average of just 1.10. This marks the second time this season that Steph has been named Gryphon Athlete of the Week after she received the honour back in mid-November as well. Up next for the Gryphons, a matchup with the Toronto Varsity Blues in the OUA semi-finals.
