Heather Petrick (Niagara on the Lake, Ont.) won the Cross Country New Balance Vic Matthews Open, leading the Gryphons to an amazing 1-6 sweep on Saturday at Guelph’s Arboretum. The second year runner finished with a time of 20:42.6, nearly 20 seconds ahead of second place. The defending national champion Gryphon team kicked off the 2014 season with a first place team finish and now prepare for the Mustangs Open on October 2.
