Katelyn Ayers of Orillia, Ont. made quite a debut as a first year member of the Gryphon track and field team at the OUA Championships at York over the weekend. The first-year was the only female athlete to win four medals and four OUA all-star awards, helping bring home the Gryphons a second consecutive provincial track and field title.
 
The Science major earned gold medals in the women’s 600m and 1000m races. She also ran the anchor leg on both the 4x800m and 4x400m relays that brought home silver medals. In total she scored an impressive 24 points for her Gryphon team.
 
Ayers and the Gryphons will be in action again in two weeks looking for the national title as the CIS Championships takes place from March 6-8 at the University of Alberta.
