Fourth-year Alisha Harricharan (Brampton, Ont.) picked up three gold medals at the OUA Championships this past weekend hosted by Brock University. The Psychology student swept the butterfly events and broke two OUA records in the process. She finished first in the 100m butterfly with an OUA record time of 59.53, and then broke the OUA record in the 50 butterfly with a time of 26.86, along with winning the 200m butterfly. Harricharan defended her title in each of these events from last season, however this year she broke two records in the process. The fourth-year also swam on the Gryphon relay which brought home a bronze medal in the 4 x 100m freestyle relay, with Alisha swimming a blistering 56.2 split.
Â
With a very fast dive and under water kick out, Harricharan is unmatched on her turns and ability to get her hand on the wall before everyone else. It is rare for someone to win all three distances, yet alone win all three in back to back years.
Â
Harricharan and the Gryphons will now prepare for the CIS Championships hosted by University of Toronto from February 20-22.
