Julian Tropea, a Sociology student from Niagara Falls, Ont. kicked a 27-yard field goal with 23 seconds left in regulation to lead the No. 9 ranked Guelph Gryphons to a 42-39 victory over the No. 7 Western Mustangs at Alumni Stadium on Saturday. The 6-foot-1, 240-pound fourth-year was good on all five of his attempts, splitting the uprights from 22, 27, 32, 41 and 42 yards. He was crucial down the stretch making three of his five field goals in the last seven minutes and with just four minutes left on the clock he hit his game-day high distance with a 42-yarder to regain the lead. He also added three extra points, accounting for 18 total points in the Gryphon victory.
