LEARN TO FENCE
This is an introduction to the skills of fencing. It includes a review of the norms and values associated with fencing to develop techniques in basic body movements - advance, retreat and lunge - and in basic blade movements - parries and ripostes; and understanding of basic tactics and strategy. Working in matched pairs, classes will warm-up and practice techniques. Time will be spent in competition with other class members. Please bring running shoes, long athletic pants & a water bottle. Eye glasses can be worn when wearing a fencing mask, however, contact lenses are recommended. All other equipment is provided. Class size: Min. 12, Max. 30. Includes 10 classes.

FENCING INTERMEDIATE
This is a continuation of Learn to Fence. Previous fencing experience is required. The class will review the techniques and principles taught in the first class and build upon them. Further understanding of parries and attacks will be taught and practiced. A greater emphasis is placed on competition and the rules of Fencing. Classes will warm-up and practice techniques together. Time will be spent in competition with other class members. Class size: Min. 12, Max. 30. Includes 10 classes.

LEARN TO PLAY GOLF - LOCATION CUTTEN CLUB
This golf course will consist of four classes and will be held at the Cutten Club located on College Avenue, just north of East Residences. This course geared to all levels of play, will cover instruction on basic fundamentals including the short game and full swing. A 9-hole round of golf is included at the conclusion of this course. Class size: Min. 5, Max. 8. Includes 4 classes.

LEARN TO PLAY HOCKEY
Instructed by the Gryphon Women's Hockey Team, this four session course will be dedicated to learning how to play more effectively while developing your hockey skills. You must provide your own equipment. Class size: Min. 10, Max. 30. Includes 4 classes.

LEARN TO PLAY HOCKEY - GOALIE
Instructed by the Gryphon Women's Varsity Hockey Team, this four session course specializes in the basics of hockey goaltending. It is designed for those learning the position as well as for those wishing to improve their skills. Please provide your own equipment (full hockey equipment including face mask required). Class size: Min. 2, Max. 4. Includes 4 classes.

LEARN TO ROCK CLIMB
This 5 week course offers participants a safe and positive environment in which technical know-how and introductory climbing technique will be taught. Focus will be spent on indoor gym climbing safety, belay methods, rock climbing for fitness, rock climbing technique, games to play on vertical surfaces, indoor route finding, bouldering, skill and strength training, as well as cooperative efforts and team building. All equipment is provided. Class size: Min. 12, Max. 20. Includes 5 classes.

LEARN TO RUN - EVENINGS
This Coed Learn to Run Clinic will be instructed by our Championship Gryphon Cross Country Team. This program is designed for individuals with no previous experience with the desire to learn the fundamentals of running such as hydration, nutrition, proper running form & bio mechanics. The encouragement of running in a group will motivate and help you achieve your first 5km race by the end of the clinic. Class size: Min. 12, Max. 25. Includes 10 classes.

LEARN TO SKATE
This class is intended for non-skaters or for those with limited skill. Skaters will practice skating forwards and backwards, developing confidence and control. Development will include stops and turns, elementary jumping and may lead into an elementary form of power skating, or figure moves or 'skate fit'. Participants must provide their own skates (figure or hockey) and recommend sharpening the blades prior to the first class. Safety pads and a hockey helmet would be an asset to beginners. Participants are expected to practice between sessions. Class size: Min. 12, Max. 30. Includes 10 classes.

LEARN TO PLAY SQUASH
Participants are expected to have little or no playing experience with no formal training. The content will include the basic rules & norms of squash; basic techniques of service, forehand & backhand returns, as well as drop shot, lob & alley shot. Practice between classes is recommended. During the in-person registration process, you will choose your 40 minute time slot and be partnered with another individual with similar abilities (you can identify your partner choice), if registering on-line, please call 519-824-4120 Ext.56253 for time slot choice. Squash racquets & protective glasses (mandatory) are available to sign-out at Client Services with the deposit of your membership card at no charge. Class size: Min. 8, Max. 20. Includes 6 40-minute lessons.
