Recreation Activities for:

The weekly (Wednesday to Tuesday) schedule for drop-in recreation activities is posted on our site by 6pm each Tuesday.
Why not try something new! We offer a wide range of recreational activities. Some of the activities require supervision by law (swimming), some require supervision by our regulations (skating), but most are pick up activities with no supervision. So, grab a friend and join us for some activity or come and meet some new friends!
Cost: FREE to members! (except ice hockey- see below)Daily drop-in for non-member guests: $4 Adults / $3 Senior/Child/$10 Family
Payment is made at the Client Service Desk in the W. F. Mitchell Centre. For your convenience, you can make payment for recreation skating and recreational hockey to the coin machine in the Arena lobby (exact change is required).
For recreational skating:
Semester passes are available at a discount from the Daily drop-in prices listed above ($67/adult; $50/senior/child; $160/family (up to 4 family members). Please purchase at Client Services. Semester passes work best for you if you will be skating more than 15 times per semester.
A selection of equipment is available for loan for use during your recreational time. Please see the specific sports below for availability, costing, and fees for lost equipment.
In order to provide the broadest possible range of activities and times we have programmed every available space and time. By necessity there will be program disruptions for convocation, conferences, camps, varsity events, College Royal and a host of other special events.
Badminton – West Gym
Monday to Friday 9:30-11:30am
Monday - 1:30-4pm
Badminton racquets, birdies and nets are available from the Client Service desk by scanning your student or membership card. Racquet rentals are $2.00/ racquet/ session.
Lost or broken racquets are charged at replacement cost (approximately $25)
Baseball- South Diamond beside Maritime Hall
Mon. to Fri. 9:00am-4:00pm - Closed for the Season
Bats are available for sign-out at Client Services. Replacement cost is $40.
Basketball – Main Gym
Monday - Friday 6:30am-2:30pm
Saturday 8am-7pm - Sat. Mar. 13th 8am-12pm only
Sunday 8am-11am
Balls are available for use.
Lost or damaged balls are charged at replacement cost (approximately $35)
Beach Volleyball - Courts beside Maritime Hall
Closed for the Season

Saturday & Sunday 9am-noon - Closed for the Season
Nets, lines and volleyballs are available for use. Lost or broken equipment is charged at replacement cost (approx. $30 ball, $150 net, $50 lines)
Boxing (heavy bag) – AC 173
Monday - Friday - noon-4pm
Saturday - 8am-7:30pm - Sat. Mar. 13th 8am-11am only
Sunday 8am-3pm
A hanging heavy bag and floor sitting bag are available for use in AC 173 as shared space with other recreation programs (rec dance, table tennis) or on its own when the room is not in use for programming. Use of the heavy bag is not permitted during programmed classes (Yoga, Pilates, etc usually in the evening).
You must bring all of your own equipment for use of the heavy bag.
Dance – AC 173
Monday to Friday - 8am-12pm
Dance is available in AC173 as shared space with other recreation programs (heavy bag, table tennis) or on its own when the room is not in use for programming. Use of the room is not permitted during programmed classes (Yoga, Pilates, etc. which usually take place in the evening).
Disc Golf – Arboretum
A 9 hole Disc Golf course (with 2 T-placements enabling 18 holes) is available at the Arboretum, a short 10 minute walk from the Athletics Centre. Disc Golf Map
Please be mindful of the other Arboretum users. Leash & clean up after your dog please.
A golf disc set (driver, mid range, and putter) is NOW available from the Client Service desk. Lost and damaged equipment is charged at replacement cost (approximately $20/case and $10/disc)
Fitness Classes
While not a free recreation program many clients look on this page first. For your convenience we have provided a link to the current schedule for our variety of Fitness Classes. Please note that a fitness membership is required for participation and that the membership card should be brought to class for admittance. ($49 per semester)
Hot Tub
Our 10 person hot tub is open during Gold pool length swims. The temperature is kept at 104F and unless the hourly chemical tests are perfect it is closed temporarily. The hot tub is closed, drained, and cleaned, on a weekly basis from Wednesday at 3pm to Thursday at 11am.
Indoor Run / Walk – Dome Track
Monday to Friday 8am-4pm
Recreational- Hockey – Red Rink, Arena

Costs: Students $3/per 2 hour session or $48/semester.
Non-members pay a daily ($4) or semester ($67) membership plus the above= $7 or semester ($118)
The Department of Athletics does not have equipment available for recreational hockey.

Skates are not available for rental.
Noon Skates: Mon. - Fri. 11am-12:50pm
Evening Skates: Fri., Sat., Sun. - 7-7:50pm
Evening Skates: Mon. & Tues. - 7:30-8:20pm
Family Skates: Sat. & Sun. - 1:30-3:20pm
Sauna
Each change room is equipped with a dry (water poured on the stones ruins the heater) heat sauna.The sauna is available during Athletics Centre building hours although it does take approximately 30 minutes to warm up after the facility is opened in the morning.
Soccer - DOME
Monday to Friday - 12pm-2 pm
During good weather the group moves outdoors
Soccer balls are available for use.
Lost or broken balls are charged at replacement cost (approximately $35)
Squash

Swimming
Gold Pool - lane swimming
Monday to Friday – 7am-9am
Monday to Thursday - 11pm-12am
Monday to Sunday – 11am-1pm; 3-4pm; 7-8pm - Cancelled Sun. Mar. 7th 3-4pm
The temperature of the Gold Pool is approximately 80F degrees.
Red Pool – recreational swimming
Monday to Friday – 11am-12pm, 3pm-4pm, 7pm-8pm
Monday to Thursday - 11pm-12am
Women's Only Swim - Friday - 8-9pm
Sat. & Sun. - 11am-1pm, 3pm-4pm, 7pm-8pm
The temperature of the Red Pool is approximately 85F degrees.
Table Tennis – AC 173

Tennis – Dome Field

Tennis racquets and balls are available for rental. Racquets are $2.00 per racquet per rental.

Ultimate Frisbee – Dome Field
Mon. to Wed. - 9am-11am
Frisbees are available for use.
Lost or broken frisbees are charged at replacement cost (approximately $5)
Volleyball – West Gym
